A group of Brownies visit Rubislaw

Intergenerational Collaboration

Rubislaw Park is currently working in collaboration with the Brownies from Craigiebuckler, Aberdeen. There are proven benefits to both the elderly and young in working together to enhance experiences and development.

The residents enjoy spending time with the brownies and teaching them many skills, some of which are now not regularly taught as part of the educational curriculum or at home. Home economics, skills in sewing, knitting and general life skills are retained by many of our residents who are keen to share their knowledge and skills with the younger generation.

We recognise and encourage the knowledge that both parties can share with each other and are committed to supporting this vital partnership. This is a regular co-venture that will occur on a monthly basis.

Our residents may not see families as often as they would like, some due to distance therefore they thoroughly enjoy being able to share precious moments with the brownies whilst supported by the care home staff.

We look forward to welcoming the Brownies back to Rubislaw Park very soon.
