Specialised Dementia Care at Rubislaw Park
At Rubislaw Park Care Home, we’re teaching our teams the most up-to-date dementia research and techniques. Having these expert skills will enable our staff to deliver high-quality dementia care from the early stages through to the advanced stages. From creating engaging activities to supporting dementia residents during mealtimes; we strive to make our rooms feel homely with assistance available at all hours of the day and night. We employ zero agency staff. This means our staff gets to know a person’s routine and provides a sense of familiarity among residents.
We are proud to have our own sensory room, designed to create a tranquil and therapeutic setting that fosters relaxation and reduce stress and distress, which is common for those living with Dementia. With its calming lights, comfortable seating, and soothing sounds, the sensory room cultivates a calm ambiance. We provide a tailored therapy session for each individual, which helps to promote cognition and ability and has proven to be effective among our dementia residents.
The way our care home dementia unit has been decorated has been heavily influenced by our residents who are living with dementia. We recognise that when people have dementia, the way in which they view their world might be drastically different to how we view ours. Therefore, everything that makes up our residents’ living environment is evaluated. From coloured bedroom doors and name plagues to using lots of natural lighting and signage, every design choice is made to ensure that we create a safe and homely environment at our care home in aberdeen. Residents are also encouraged to go out on day trips into the local community.
