What Does An Average Day Living In A Residential Care Home Involve

Residential care here in Aberdeen allows our residents to live the way they wish to. We have a dedicated team of care providers working around-the-clock to support residents as much or as little as they need. We value our residents skill sets and strengths, encouraging them to maintain and use their independence as much as possible. With residential care, the type of care and support each one of our residents receive is personalised to suit them and their needs. For some, the level of support is little, whereas for others, it can be higher.

In our home, we aim to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for our residents to ensure they feel empowered, happy and confident. An atmosphere that ensures our residents don’t feel too far away from home. That’s why, here at Rubislaw Park Care Home, we have a holistic care approach, tailoring all of our activities and facilities to be as inclusive and expansive as can be, making sure there is something for everyone to get involved in, improving their daily living.

Every day will be different, however a typical daily routine may include the following:

  • Waking up between 7-8am, if you need assistance with getting washed and dressed, a care assistant will help.
  • You’ll then have your breakfast in our home's communal dining area where you will also be given your medication if needed.
  • There is usually a morning activity for our residents
  • Followed by lunch in either the communal dining area, or outside if the weather is good
  • Within the afternoon there will be another activity or form of gentle exercise, during the day there are also opportunities for family and friends to visit
  • Dinner time will either be in the dining room or privately in your own room if you’d prefer
  • You can then enjoy a film or some TV in the home's cinema or TV within your room
  • Before bed, staff will be checking on each resident to ensure they’re comfy and content

Each resident enjoys the freedom or doing whatever they want to do, we promote independence, although if you prefer to have a set daily routine, this can be an option.
