Our care homes are equipped to offer comprehensive personal care, where are staff are able to care for one another, supporting our residents mental health, wellbeing, physical health, emotional and medical needs. We’re passionate about providing stimulating activities and games as it’s a great way to improve an individuals quality of life. We’re always offering a range of accessible activities for our residents to take part in, from puzzle solving and board games to reading and learning musical instruments. Our activities coordinator presents our residents with either a weekly or monthly activity programme that’s engaging and stimulating for their mental and physical health. By giving our residents something new to learn and try means having positive effects on their brain, including improved memory and overall good mental health. From shopping in our local city or the garden centres, to Sunday lunch, sing-alongs and other activities, all varying the interests and abilities of our residents.

Because our care home is an all inclusive care home, this means that all services and facilities are included in the total weekly fees that residents pay for within their care, with some excursions incurring an additional cost. What Does An Average Day Living In A Residential Care Home Involve

For some, the level of support is little, whereas for others, it can be higher.

An atmosphere that ensures our residents don’t feel too far away from home. That’s why, here at Rubislaw Park Care Home, we have a holistic care approach, tailoring all of our activities and facilities to be as inclusive and expansive as can be, making sure there is something for everyone to get involved in, improving their daily living.
Every day will be different, however a typical daily routine may include the following:
- Waking up between 7-8am, if you need assistance with getting washed and dressed, a care assistant will help.
- You’ll then have your breakfast in our home's communal dining area where you will also be given your medication if needed.
- There is usually a morning activity for our residents
- Followed by lunch in either the communal dining area, or outside if the weather is good
- Within the afternoon there will be another activity or form of gentle exercise, during the day there are also opportunities for family and friends to visit
- Dinner time will either be in the dining room or privately in your own room if you’d prefer
- You can then enjoy a film or some TV in the home's cinema or TV within your room
- Before bed, staff will be checking on each resident to ensure they’re comfy and content
Each resident enjoys the freedom or doing whatever they want to do, we promote independence, although if you prefer to have a set daily routine, this can be an option. Our residents are also not forced to join in where they don’t want to, although the majority of our residents love joining in and having that social element to the activities along with making new friends along the way.
Environment and Facilities
No matter your preference to life within a residential care home, we have suitable needs that can tailor to anyone. For example, if you like a busy, bustling place, somewhere with bright colours and plenty of social activities we can do exactly that. But, if you’re looking to spend time in a more quieter space, with a tranquil setting, your private space and the option to spend your time reading or listening to the radio, we can also accommodate to this with our great facilities such as our private quiet room.

Activities
Life in a care home doesn't have to be dull and we make sure of that here at Rubislaw Park Care Home. As mentioned previously, we have an activity and wellbeing coordinator who organises activities for our lovely residents. From arts and craft sessions to games and recreational activities, physical and mental health is important for our residents, their primary care is our priority. However, our main focus is ensuring our residents are having the best time! So, whether that’s planning challenges in the garden during the spring and summer, playing games or taking our residents out into the community, you can be rest assured knowing that each individuals wellbeing is looked after.
Our activity coordinators are amazing when it comes to encouraging our residents to get involved if they want to, boosting their self esteem. At Rubislaw Park Care Home, we take our residents our regularly in the mini bus and car, making sure they also have great adventures outside of the grounds too.
Come rain or shine, we have a range of fabulous acts that come into the home, they love to put on a show for our residents, from breathtaking dancers and performers to our very own home choir where residents can participate or watch joyfully.
We’re a home and community where you can take up new hobbies, enjoy the outside and continue with doing what you love, whether that’s gardening or reading, we’re positive to leading our residents into a stress-free, happy life with enhanced health.
