Dementia Care

Our team has received extensive training in getting to grips with all elements of dementia, and on the first floor of our home in Aberdeen, we provide Dementia Care in a safe, caring, and welcoming setting.

Our care staff and Activity Coordinators can work with individuals with dementia to provide a variety of activities and alternative therapies to find activities that are appropriate and that support their specific needs.

What is Dementia Care?

At Rubislaw Park, we provide dedicated dementia care to residents in Aberdeen and the surrounding area. We have specialised staff working around-the-clock to give as much support as our residents require. We appreciate each and every one of our residents strengths and skill sets, and we actively encourage them to use them as much as possible and maintain their independence while they are with us here at Rubislaw Park. When it comes to our Dementia Care, the level of support and care provided to each of our residents is individually tailored to meet their particular needs.

The level of help required by some will be fairly modest, while the amount of assistance required by others will be much higher. It is entirely dependent on the individual. Our Dementia Care teams are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Rubislaw Park. They provide personal and social care, as well as offering support that provides comfort and positive engagement for people with dementia.

Our Approach to Dementia Care

Our care home in Aberdeen has a wide array of local amenities and facilities that promote independence, while also providing our residents with a safe, stimulating, and relaxing environment. Due to our expert knowledge and experience of our residents, we can provide second-to-none care for our residents with memory loss. People’s needs and abilities change over time, so there really is no one-size-fits-all approach to Dementia Care. As a result, care for older people with dementia must be very closely tailored to the individual’s needs, and the needs and ideas of their loved ones.

Specialised Dementia Care at Rubislaw Park

At Rubislaw Park, we’re teaching our teams the most up-to-date dementia research and techniques. Being trained in these expert skills will enable them to deliver high-quality dementia care to our residents, and do so with expert knowledge behind them. From creating engaging activities for our residents with dementia, to really encouraging all of our dementia residents to embrace the whole dining and mealtime experience; we want to direct our focus on making Rubislaw Park feel just like home.

Even the way we decorate our home environment is heavily influenced by our residents who are living with dementia. We recognise that when people have dementia, the way in which they view their world might be drastically different to how we view ours. Therefore, everything that makes up our residents living environment is evaluated. From colours to patterns, types of fabrics to lighting and signage options, every design choice is made to ensure that we design rooms and create atmosphere’s that support our residents.

When Should Someone With Dementia Go Into a Care Home?

Choosing to look into care homes for yourself or a loved one is a significant step that should not be taken lightly. We recognise that this is a challenging time to navigate, and that knowing where to turn or who to turn to can be tough. At Rubislaw Park, we can offer support to our existing residents, future residents, and their loved ones, as well as supporting them in determining the best course of action.
