Poppy The Dog Brings Smiles To Rubislaw Park

Poppy the dog

It was already a lively afternoon at Rubislaw Park, with residents moving to the rhythm of our Movement to Music session, but the day became truly special when our lovely therapy dog, Poppy, popped in for a visit. It had been a little while since we’d seen her, as she’s been recovering after her leg operation, but seeing her trot back through the doors, tail wagging and eyes bright, felt like welcoming back an old friend.

You could instantly feel her presence in the room. Smiles grew wide everyone wanted a moment with her. Poppy has this gentle way of making people feel calm and cared for. She took her time greeting everyone, nudging hands for strokes, posing for pictures, and soaking up all the love and attention she so deserved.

Therapy dogs like Poppy bring something truly special to days like this. Their presence has a quiet kind of magic—lifting moods, stirring fond memories, and giving comfort without needing to say a single word. For many of our residents, these visits mean far more than just a few cuddles; they remind us of the simple joy of companionship and unconditional love.

We’re so happy to see Poppy back on her paws and visiting again as she really did brighten everyone’s day and we cannot wait to see her again soon at Rubislaw Park.
