Celebrating St Andrew’s Day with Some Special Visitors

St Andrew's Day celebrations at Rubislaw Park Care Home were extra special this year thanks to a wonderful visit from Chapla Dance School and Lawrence School of Dance. The room was filled with energy and colour as the talented visitors performed traditional Scottish dances.

The home came alive on this chilly Sunday afternoon as residents and staff were swept up in the joy of the rhythmic Sword Dance, Highland Fling, Paddy Bas. Smiles beamed across the room with feet tapping and hands clapping in time to the uplifting music.

This spectacular event also offered an opportunity for some residents to reminisce about their own highland dancing in younger years, with others sharing beautiful memories of family gatherings and festive celebrations. A moving reminder of how music and movement can create moments of meaningful connection, unlock precious memories and even enhance health and wellbeing.

As well as the magic of dance and music, intergenerational interaction is also hugely beneficial for our residents. The social interaction, mental stimulation and companionship can help provide a sense of purpose for both generations.

As a Care Home in Aberdeen, it is important to us to stay connected to Scottish culture and the traditions our residents hold dear. Watching these skilled young dancers perform against the backdrop of the beautiful Scottish countryside that surrounds our home created a sense of connection, pride and delight.

Thank you again to both dance schools for making our St Andrew's Day Celebrations magical!

There's always something amazing happening at Rubislaw Park Care Home and we'd love for you to get involved. To stay up to date with our latest news and events, follow us on social media or keep an eye on our website.
